This article explains how to duplicate an existing campaign in SMARTFENSE to create a new campaign with the same configuration data already loaded in the form. The feature is available from the campaign list in any status, and from the campaign detail only for campaigns that have already started.
How to access duplication
From the campaign list
- Go to Campaigns > Campaign List.
- Locate the campaign you want to duplicate.
- In the Actions column, click Duplicate campaign.
From the campaign detail
This option is only available for campaigns that have already started. Campaigns with a Not started status do not have an active audit and can only be duplicated from the campaign list.
- Open the campaign detail from Campaigns > Campaign List or from Campaigns > Calendar.
- Go to Audit - Campaign detail.
- Navigate to the Information and actions tab.
- Press the Duplicate campaign button at the bottom of the screen.
What happens when you duplicate
The platform opens the campaign creation screen of the same component, with the source campaign data already filled in. At the top of the form, a notice displays the name and ID of the original campaign, and reminds you to review the dates and recipients before confirming.
The new campaign is created only when you press Save. The original campaign is not modified in any case.
After confirming, the platform redirects you to the Campaign List, where you will find the new campaign. If you cancel, you return to the original campaign detail.
Data that is copied
- Recipients (groups, functional areas, hierarchical levels, specific users)
- Content (topic or scenario)
- Mode (Normal or Relative)
- Start date and expiration date
- Automatic reminders
- All other configuration options
Data that is not copied
- Execution results: the copy is created without execution data (sends, opens, etc.).
- Association with an automated program: if the original campaign is part of an automated awareness program, the copy is not associated with that program.
Data that could not be copied exactly is indicated in the creation form so that the administrator can review it before confirming.
Special case: campaign with an expired start date
If the start date of the original campaign has already passed, the platform assigns the form's default start date to the copy and recalculates the expiration date to maintain the same duration in days.
In this case, the form displays an additional notice indicating that the dates have been rescheduled. Review the start date before confirming.
💡 Best practices
- Review the dates and recipients before confirming the duplication form, as they may require adjustments relative to the original campaign.
- Use duplication to repeat seasonal or compliance campaigns without having to reconfigure each field from scratch.
- Keep in mind that the duplicated campaign does not inherit the results or the association with the original automated program; if applicable, add it to the program manually or manage it independently.
- Verify that the selected topic is appropriate for the new cycle before saving the duplicated campaign.
