This article describes the reports available in the Reports > Key performance indicators section. These reports present the main indicators to show how the awareness program evolves:
- Awareness indicators in campaigns
- Proactive use indicators
- Awareness benchmark

Awareness indicators in campaigns
Presents the key performance indicators (KPIs) of the awareness plan. It measures everything from overall reach and participation to the performance of each component, so you can evaluate the program's impact and identify which strategies work best.
This report only considers the actions users take within an assigned campaign. It does not include proactive interactions outside a campaign (for example, reading a newsletter available on the user's own initiative).
Questions it answers:
- What is the level of user engagement with the awareness plan?
- How effective are the different types of content for raising awareness and communicating?
- Where are the opportunities to increase the program's impact?
Filters: Filter by group, Filter by functional area, Filter by hierarchical level, Filter by smart group, Start view and End view.
Global metrics
- Global Participation (%): percentage of active users who interacted with at least one awareness activity. A low value indicates that campaign communication and launch should be reinforced.
- Overall Completion Rate (%): percentage of assigned content that users completed. It helps detect barriers such as lack of time, long content or access problems.
- Average Completion Rate per User (%): calculates each user's completion rate and then averages those values. It represents the average user and removes the bias of users with many or few assignments.
-
Interactions in the Period: total volume of program activity, shown as a funnel.
- Sent: total content sent in the period's campaigns.
- Started: total content that users started.
- Completed: total content that users completed.
The denominator of the Average Completion Rate per User is the total content enabled for the selected period, excluding relative actions.
Metrics by component
| Component | Metric | What it measures |
|---|---|---|
| Interactive Modules | Completion Rate (%) | Users who completed the assigned modules. |
| Video Games | Completion Rate (%) | Users who completed the assigned video games. |
| Videos | Full Viewing Rate (%) | Assigned users who watched the whole video. |
| Videos | Correct Answer Rate (%) | Users who answered the video's validation question correctly. |
| Newsletters | Open Rate (%) | Users who opened the newsletter out of the total sent. |
| Newsletters | Correct Answer Rate (%) | Users who answered the reading validation question correctly. |
| Exams | Pass Rate (%) | Users who passed out of the total assigned. |
| Exams | Average Score | Average grade obtained by users in the exams. |
| Surveys | Response Rate (%) | Users who completed the survey out of the total sent. |

Proactive use indicators
Presents the key indicators of voluntary platform use: the activity users carry out on their own initiative, outside an assigned campaign. A mature security culture shows in voluntary use: the higher the proactive adoption, the lower the dependence on mandatory campaigns.
This report only considers proactive interactions. Actions within a campaign are shown in Awareness indicators in campaigns. Exams and surveys are not included, because they can only be accessed if they were assigned in a campaign.
Questions it answers:
- How many people use the platform on their own initiative?
- Is proactive use growing or stalling?
- Which content and which areas concentrate the use?
Filters: Filter by group, Filter by functional area, Filter by hierarchical level, Filter by smart group, Start month and End month.
Definitions:
- Active users: users with active status (not deactivated). This is the denominator of the adoption rate.
- Started a content: the user started a module, video or video game, or opened a newsletter.
- Completed a content: for modules, videos and video games, the user finished them; for newsletters, the user opened them or answered their associated question.
Metrics:
- Proactive adoption rate (%): active users who completed at least one content on their own initiative in the period.
- Active proactive users: distinct users who completed at least one content proactively. This is the basis of the adoption rate.
- Content per active user: average number of distinct contents completed by each proactive user. A value close to 1 indicates superficial use; higher values reflect sustained exploration.
- Active proactive users per month: monthly evolution of proactive use. Each month is counted separately, so the monthly total does not match the active users of the period.
- Use by content type: for Interactive Modules, Videos, Video Games and Newsletters, how many distinct users started them and how many completed them.
- Adoption by area and level: active users, proactive users and adoption percentage by functional area and hierarchical level. Includes CSV download.
- Rankings: most consumed content and most proactive users in the period. Include CSV download.

Awareness benchmark
Compares your organization's program results with those of the other client organizations, globally and within your own sector. For each indicator, it shows your organization's value, the benchmark average, your position, a qualitative band and a conclusion that guides action.
You can find the details of each indicator, how to read the bands and the position, and the breakdown by component in the following article: Awareness benchmark report.
💡 Best practices
- Review Global Participation before the metrics by component: a low participation percentage limits the conclusions you can draw from the other indicators.
- Compare the Overall Completion Rate with the Average Completion Rate per User: a large difference may indicate that a few users account for most of the completions.
- Use the Average Completion Rate per User to detect users with low compliance, and complement it with Audit > Assigned actions > Users > Campaigns by user to understand the causes.
- Monitor the Proactive adoption rate as an indicator of cultural maturity: a growing value shows that the organization has internalized the program beyond mandatory campaigns.
- Check Use by content type and the rankings to prioritize the formats and topics that most encourage voluntary use.
- Apply the group or functional area filters to identify segments with lower adherence and design specific follow-up actions.
- Use the Awareness benchmark to prioritize: focus on the indicators marked "Room for improvement" or "Low level" and maintain those already at a good level.
- Keep the last update date in mind when sharing the reports with other teams.
