This article describes the specific configurations of the Video Games component available in SMARTFENSE: End user view and URL Pool.
To access these configurations, go to the Settings > Awareness > Video Games menu and select the option you wish to configure.
End user view
Defines whether the Available Video Games section is shown to the end user. This section lists the video games that the user can play outside the scope of an assigned campaign.
The Assigned Video Games section (video games assigned in campaigns in progress) and the Completed Video Games section (video games completed at some point in the user's history, both inside and outside of a campaign, which can be played again) are independent of this configuration and cannot be hidden.
Available options
- Show this section with all the active Video Games on the platform: the user will see all active video games, both predefined and customized.
- Do not show this section: the Available Video Games section will not be shown to the user.
URL Pool
The URL Pool is a set of URLs used in some SMARTFENSE video games, where the user must classify them as secure or insecure. For each URL in the pool, the following is defined:
- Type: indicates whether the URL is secure or insecure.
- Help message: a message intended to help the end user determine whether the URL is secure or insecure.
- Feedback displayed when correctly classifying this URL: a message that can be displayed if the user correctly classified the URL.
- Feedback displayed when incorrectly classifying this URL: a message that can be displayed if the user incorrectly classified the URL.
- General feedback: a message that provides an explanation or general information about the URL.
SMARTFENSE provides a set of predefined URLs in multiple languages. Additionally, it is possible to add customized URLs from the Customized content > URL Pool menu, where the organization's own URLs are managed (creation from scratch or from a template, edition of translations, activation or deactivation). For more details, see the Custom content article.
Important: some video games use a minimum of 10 URLs. Please take this requirement into account when defining which URLs will be available to end users.
Available options
- Show all active URLs on the platform, both predefined and customized: users will see both predefined and customized URLs in the video games that use the URL Pool.
- Show only the active custom URLs of the platform: users will only see customized URLs in the video games that use the URL Pool.
💡 Best practices
- Remember to press the Save button at the bottom of each configuration window before exiting. If you change screens without saving, the selected changes will be lost.
- Before selecting Show only the active custom URLs of the platform, verify that the amount of active customized URLs is sufficient for the video games you intend to use (remember the minimum of 10 URLs in some cases).
- Customize the URLs in the pool with examples that are relevant to the organization's context and actual risks, so the video games become more meaningful to users.
- Periodically review the help and feedback messages of each customized URL to keep them up to date with new trends or risks.
- If your awareness strategy combines formal and playful content, keep the Available Video Games section enabled so users can review concepts on their own initiative.
