This article explains how to configure LMS-integrated campaigns in SMARTFENSE using SCORM packages, allowing content and statistics to remain synchronized between SMARTFENSE and LMS platforms such as Moodle or Cornerstone.
The LMS Integration component allows linking SMARTFENSE with LMS platforms such as Moodle or Cornerstone, using SCORM packages and user linking.
In this way, usage and content completion statistics remain available both in SMARTFENSE and in the LMS.
Many organizations interested in improving their cybersecurity awareness programs ask if it is possible to integrate SMARTFENSE content into their Learning Management System. The answer is yes. SMARTFENSE integrates with LMS based on Moodle or Cornerstone through SCORM packages.
It is important to clarify that an LMS is focused on managing learning processes, mainly academic, while an AMS (Awareness Management System) like SMARTFENSE aims to generate a habit change in users through awareness actions.
Thanks to this integration, users can access SMARTFENSE Interactive Modules, Videos, Video Games, and Exams transparently from the LMS.
To integrate SMARTFENSE with any of these LMS platforms, follow these steps:
Campaign Creation
The SMARTFENSE administrative user must create a new Interactive Modules campaign.
The campaign must be configured with the desired topic and targeted to the corresponding users.
In the campaign settings, check the LMS Integration option with the value Integrate this campaign with an LMS.
| Important: campaigns marked with this option do not send notifications to users. |
Downloading the SCORM Package
Once the Interactive Modules campaign is created, locate the campaign in the Calendar.
From there, a button will be available to download the corresponding SCORM package.
Creating the Course in the LMS
- The administrative user of the LMS must create a new course on their platform.
- In that course, they must add the SCORM package downloaded from SMARTFENSE.
User Linking
To link users between both platforms, you can consult the following article:
Integration with LMS - User Linking
Step-by-Step in Moodle
From the Moodle perspective, a SCORM package is an activity added to a course as part of its content.
The process to add the SMARTFENSE SCORM package to a Moodle course is identical to any other SCORM package or activity module.
You can consult Moodle's official documentation at the following link:
https://docs.moodle.org/all/en/SCORM_settings#Adding_a_SCORM_package
Since the SCORM package works as a bridge between two platforms, it is required that users be enrolled in both.
In this case, users must be enrolled in both Moodle and SMARTFENSE.
You can find more information in SMARTFENSE online help, under the section Integration with LMS > User Linking.
Content Access
The integration of SMARTFENSE content with an LMS is done through SCORM packages.
End-user access to these packages from the LMS can be configured in two ways:
Restricted only to SCORM packages from active campaigns that users have not yet completed.
Without restrictions, allowing users to access content even when the campaign from which the SCORM package originated has already ended.
From the section Integration with LMS > Content Access, you can configure the option that best fits the organization's needs.

Note 1: if the user interacts after the campaign has ended, these will be recorded in the proactive actions audit section. Note 2: this setting does not affect Exams. |
💡 Best Practices
Define the content access strategy in advance before distributing SCORM packages.
Verify that users are properly enrolled in both platforms.
Conduct pilot campaigns before a mass deployment.
Review audit reports to validate proper interaction logging.
