Nudges are brief messages designed to influence specific security behaviors.
Their goal is to guide users toward the right decision at the most opportune moment, either proactively or reactively.
To understand how Nudges work in SMARTFENSE, it is helpful to divide them into two main parts: Trigger Events and Awareness Notifications.
Trigger Events
Trigger events correspond to risky actions performed by users that SMARTFENSE automatically detects.
When one of these events occurs, the sending of an awareness notification is triggered.
Awareness Notifications
Upon the occurrence of a trigger event, the user who performed the risky action receives a notification through the configured medium:
Slack
Teams
Email
This notification contains a brief message aimed at correcting the user's risky behavior, reinforcing good security practices.
Nudge Content
SMARTFENSE offers a gallery of predefined Nudges for each trigger event that the platform can detect.
Each notification can vary in its mechanism of influence on user behavior, for example emotional, social, or visual.
In this way, the administrator can select the most appropriate Nudges for their organization and align them with their awareness strategy.
Viewing Reports
In the Audits > Nudges section, all audit logs associated with executed Nudges can be consulted.
Each record includes the following information:
Send date
User
First name
Last name
Email
Sent Nudge
Sending methods
Details
This data allows the administrator to analyze which events triggered the Nudges and which notifications were sent in each case.
Filters, Search, and Export
From this section it is possible to:
Apply a start and end date filter to narrow the analysis period.
Use search by User, First name, and Last name.
Export the audit log table in Excel or CSV format for external analysis or formal audits.
You can review our workshop to learn in depth how to use this Nudges component.
💡 Best Practices
Analyze which trigger events generate the most Nudges to identify recurring risky behaviors.
Adjust the content of Nudges according to the type of behavior you want to correct.
Regularly review the reports to validate the effectiveness of the messages sent.
Export the records to perform comparative analyses or awareness reports.
