This article describes how the password reset email works in SMARTFENSE and how to configure whether to use the platform's own model or a custom reset email.
They are sent from Settings > Notifications > Reset Password
Overview
The password reset email is sent to both end users and users with administrative roles when they need to set a new password on the platform.
This email includes:
General information about the action the user must take.
A secure link so the person can reset their password directly.
This mechanism is essential to maintain account security and prevent unauthorized access.
Additionally, SMARTFENSE allows notifications to be sent in different languages, according to the languages configured in the profiles of the organization's users.
In this way, each user will receive the notification in their corresponding language, improving understanding and user experience.
Configuration Options
In the corresponding configuration section, it is possible to choose between the following options:
Send SMARTFENSE reset email
Send a custom reset email
Send SMARTFENSE reset email:
Allows using SMARTFENSE's standard template, with a predefined design and content focused on clarity and security for the user.
Send a custom reset email:
Allows defining your own content for the email, tailored to the organization's tone and communication needs, always maintaining the password reset link as the central element.
💡 Best Practices
Keep the option Send SMARTFENSE's own reset email active if you want a quick configuration aligned with the platform's recommendations.
If using Send a custom reset email, make sure to include clear instructions and the reset link prominently.
Avoid adding additional sensitive information in the email (such as temporary passwords in plain text).
Periodically review the custom content to ensure it remains clear, up to date, and consistent with the organization's security policies.
