This article details how to log into SMARTFENSE, the available authentication methods, and where to configure security options such as 2FA, session duration, password policies, and password resets.
Initial Access to the Instance
After purchasing the platform, the initial administrator receives an email with:
The instance URL.
The link to the article Platform Deployment.
The URL has the format https://subdomain.takesecurity.com (chosen subdomain + takesecurity.com).
Enter the address in your browser.
You will see the login screen.
| Important: The administrator user can always log in with credentials (username and password), even if the organization uses SSO. |
Authentication Options
From Users and Groups > Authentication you can enable and configure the available methods. Each option includes its own downloadable PDF guide within the platform.
SMARTFENSE's own authentication: allows the user to access with or without credentials (access link). Administrators must always log in with a password if this method is used.

Authentication with SSO
You can integrate any of the following providers:Microsoft Entra ID
Google
Auth0
Okta
Keycloak
SAML 2.0
Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)
The platform supports 2FA to enhance security.
The user can enable 2FA from their profile if available.
The administrator can require mandatory 2FA for administrator users at: Settings > Security > Two-Factor Authentication.
If you select the option Require mandatory two-factor for administrative users, all administrative users will need to activate this feature at their next login.
Session Duration
Define the inactivity time after which the session automatically logs out at:
Settings > Security > Session duration.
Password Policy
If your organization has corporate password policies, you can configure them or keep the default SMARTFENSE policy at:
Settings > Security > Password policy.
Password Reset
If access is via credentials, the user can reset their password from the login screen using the Forgot your password? link.
The administrator can reset passwords in: Users and Groups > Users.
Search for the user, scroll the user table to the right, and click Reset Password.
The user will receive an email to complete the password reset.
Minimum Requirements
Review in detail the minimum requirements your organization must meet to use the platform optimally.

Keep SSO + 2FA enabled for administrators and sensitive profiles.
Periodically review Session Duration and Password Policy to align them with your internal standards.
Keep the PDF of the authentication method used by your organization handy.
Document changes applied to access and session policies in your instance for audits.
