This article describes how to configure the title of the instance and the organization data in SMARTFENSE to customize the platform, contents, and email sender.
As part of the initial settings, it is necessary to define the title of the SMARTFENSE instance and the organization data. This information allows personalizing the user experience and maintaining consistency in contents and email notifications.
Title
The platform title is configured from the Settings > Organization > Title section. It is the name users will see at login.
You can keep the title suggested by SMARTFENSE or customize it in the desired languages. Each user will see the title configured according to the language selected in their profile.
To customize the platform title:
Select the option “Use customized title”.
Click on the corresponding language flag.
Enter the name.
Repeat this step for each of the languages your users may use.
Press Save.
When you press Save, users will start seeing the chosen name on the login window.
Organization Data
This section allows configuring the organization's information to personalize different sections and contents of the platform. To edit this data, go to Settings > Organization > Organization Data.
Name and Logo
Organization Name: allows entering the organization's name. This name will replace SMARTFENSE's name in all views intended for non-administrative end users.
Name to display as the sender of emails: defines the value of the From field of emails sent from the platform. This does not apply to simulations, as in those cases the From field depends on the chosen simulation scenario.
Organization Logo: allows uploading the organization's logo. This logo will replace SMARTFENSE's logo in all views intended for non-administrative end users.
Organizational Variables
Allows configuring the value of different organization parameters, which can then be used as variables throughout the platform's contents.
For example, it is possible to use the name of the Information Security officer as a variable inside a newsletter. If that person changes at some point, you only need to update that data here and the change will automatically reflect in all contents that use it.
Organizational variables can also be set in the different available languages. This option is useful if you have different officers in different countries.
| Note: keeping these variables updated helps avoid inconsistencies in newsletters and other automated communications. |
💡 Best Practices
Define a clear title to quickly identify the instance, especially if you manage more than one.
Configure Organization Name and Organization Logo at the beginning to ensure a consistent experience for non-administrative end users.
Periodically review Name to display as the sender of emails to improve sender identification in each notification.
Use Organizational Variables for data that changes frequently (for example, officers) to avoid manually editing multiple contents.
