Organizations increasingly rely on data to make cybersecurity decisions… but many still review reports manually within the platform. The latest SMARTFENSE workshop was dedicated precisely to addressing this point: how to use our APIs to bring awareness information in real time into your own tools.
What was explained in the workshop?
In less than 30 minutes, Ernesto Schimpf and David Casco showed, step by step:
- How to register an application in SMARTFENSE and obtain the ClientID and ClientSecret, defining the client type and the API scope.
- The two most used authentication methods: Authorization Code and Client Credentials, and when each is appropriate.
- How to test the APIs with Postman, obtaining tokens and making queries to campaign, user, and training endpoints.
- How pagination and filters work (for example, to see only users who completed at least one interactive module).
- A practical example of importing and updating users via a CSV file using the API.
What can you do with these integrations?
Based on these examples, the workshop shows how to:
- Build dynamic dashboards in Power BI, Excel, or Looker Studio with data that updates automatically.
- Combine SMARTFENSE information with other sources (SIEM, SOC, reporting tools) to have a more complete view of human risk.
- Automate operational tasks, such as user upload or update, without relying on additional integrations.
Did you miss it live?
If you couldn’t attend or want to review each technical step again, we invite you to watch the full workshop recording.
In it you will find:
- Clear conceptual explanations.
- Live demonstrations with Postman and code examples.
- Concrete use cases to apply in your organization.
It is a good starting point to transform your awareness metrics into an active defense strategy against human risk, based on real-time data.
