Nudges are brief messages designed to influence specific user security behaviors. Their goal is to guide people toward the right decision at the most opportune moment.
To better understand Nudges, we can divide them into two parts:
Trigger events
Awareness notifications
Trigger events
Trigger events are risky actions by users that SMARTFENSE automatically detects and that activate the sending of an awareness notification.
Awareness notifications
When the trigger event occurs, the user who performed the risky action receives a notification through the configured medium:
Slack
Teams
Email
This notification contains a brief message that seeks to correct the user's risky behavior in a proactive or reactive manner.
Content of the Nudges
SMARTFENSE offers a wide gallery of predefined Nudges. For each trigger event that the platform can detect, multiple awareness notification options are provided.
Each varies in the influence mechanism on user behavior: emotional, social, visual, etc. In a simple way, you can choose the Nudges most appropriate for your organization.
You can find them under Nudges > Predefined.
Before activating a predefined Nudge, press the View details button to see the title and the message it will send. Both are editable in the different displayed languages.
And, like everything in SMARTFENSE, Nudges can also be 100% customized from Nudges > Customized.
Press the New Nudge button:
Enter a name to identify it, the trigger that will execute the Nudge, and configure the Sending methods:
| Important: please note that predefined Nudges are disabled by default and you must activate those of your interest using the Activate button. |
Audit
You can see how many times a Nudge has been executed in Audit > Nudges. There you can filter by dates and search by User, First Name, or Last Name.
