Estimated time indicates how long a content should last, while time spent reflects the actual time each user invested in completing it.
Estimated time
Estimated time represents the approximate duration in minutes expected for a user to complete a content.
- It is defined at the content level
- It is a reference guideline
- It may vary depending on each user's behavior
To keep in mind:
- It is an estimate, not an exact value
- The actual time may differ depending on the user's pace, interaction, and experience
This value is displayed in:
- The user table within the Campaign Detail, from the section Campaigns > Calendar / Campaign Lists by accessing the desired campaign in "View campaign detail", tab "Users assigned to the campaign"
- Downloadable reports from the platform, from the section Audit > Assigned actions > Users > Components, in the components Modules, Exams, and Surveys
Time spent
Time spent represents the actual time the user invested in the campaign.
- It is shown in hh:mm:ss format
- It starts being recorded when the user begins the content
In components such as:
- Interactive Modules
- Exams
- Surveys
The time starts when the user presses "Start" on the player.
How is time spent calculated?
The time:
- Is recorded throughout the user's interaction
- Does not require the content to be completed
- Accumulates even if the user resumes the content
It updates when:
- The user navigates within the content
- Closes the player or the tab
- Performs actions within the module
Behavior of time spent
As long as the user is active on the tab:
- The time keeps accumulating
If the user becomes inactive:
- After 60 seconds without interaction, the time stops
- It automatically resumes when the user interacts again
It can also stop if the user:
- Switches tabs
- Minimizes the browser
Special cases
- If a user performs the content more than once → time accumulates
- In exams with multiple attempts → the time of all attempts is summed
- Campaigns before 11/05/2024 will show time spent as 0.
Where are these data displayed?
Both values can be viewed in:
- Campaign Detail from the section Campaigns > Calendar / Campaign Lists by accessing the desired campaign in "View campaign detail", tab "Users assigned to the campaign"
- Downloadable reports from the section Audit > Assigned actions > Users > Components
This allows analyzing the level of dedication of users to the assigned contents.
Considerations
- Estimated time is a reference, not a real measurement
- Time spent reflects the user's effective interaction
- Both values should be interpreted together for proper analysis
💡 Best practices
- Use estimated time as a guide for expected duration
- Analyze time spent to evaluate actual user behavior
- Compare both values to detect deviations or difficulties in the contents
