Important: You must replace the word "instance" in the URL of each API with the subdomain of the corresponding instance.
To connect our APIs to Microsoft Excel:
-
Open Microsoft Excel.
-
Open a blank workbook.
-
Go to the menu Data > Get Data > From Other Sources > select From Web.
-
In the "From Web" window, select Basic and enter the URL of the API to be used, then click Accept.
The URL must include the subdomain of the SMARTFENSE instance.
Important: You must also be logged into the SMARTFENSE instance with the same administrator user that you will use here to establish the connection.
-
Finally, in the "Access Web Content" window, it will prompt you to log in. Select the Basic option from the left menu, then enter the administrator user credentials for the SMARTFENSE instance, Username, and Password. In the "Select at which level this configuration should be applied," enter the instance URL as shown in the image. Click Connect.
If you are unable to connect:
If the connection is not established and you get the following error, click Cancel.
Go to the menu Data > Get Data > From Other Sources > select Data Source Settings...
In the Data Source Settings window, select the "Global Permissions" option, select the URL of the SMARTFENSE instance, and in the dropdown list below "Clear Permissions," select Clear All Permissions.
In the next window, click Delete, then Close.
Once this process is completed, reconnect starting from step 1, making sure to select the Basic option from step 4 and correctly enter the access credentials.
Once the connection is established:
1- If the connection is successful, the Power Query Editor will open, displaying the following information:
Now, the values need to be expanded. In the table, under the "Value" column, click the expand button and select "Expand to New Rows."
Repeat the step in the new table view to bring in all the information. You can click "Load More," then select the desired data, and click Accept.
You will see the information in the following way. You can scroll with the bottom bar to view each column and expand the ones you wish to see using the "Expand" button for each column. It is necessary to expand the column: Value.related_campaign.
6- Click on "Close & Load."
The spreadsheet will open with all the information, allowing you to perform the necessary queries.
Final considerations:
The update is in real-time. If the "Refresh" button is pressed in Excel, from the Data menu > Refresh All, it will load the current data.
A scheduled update of the instance data is not performed; instead, a manual refresh must be done to obtain the data currently available in the instance of our platform.
