You can find the following instructions within the SMARTFENSE platform under Settings > Components > Simulations > Delivery Method. Select: Direct Message Injection for Microsoft.
Instructions for configuring DMI through Microsoft
- Log in to your Microsoft Entra ID portal: https://portal.azure.com/#home
2. Enter section "Microsoft Entra ID”
3. Then, in the left-side menu, click“App registrations”.
4. Finally, click “New registration”.
5. Fill in the form to record a new app.
- Set a representative name in “Name”., Such as: SMARTFENSE-DMI.
- Select the option “Accounts in this organizational directory only”.
- Click on the button “Register”.
6. Copy the value of “Application (client) ID” and “Directory (tenant) ID” from the app created.
7. Paste both values on the platform SMARTFENSE.
8. Within the recently created application called SMARTFENSE-DMI, in the Manage section, in the 'Certificates & secrets' menu, click on 'New client secret'.
9. Enter a representative description and an expiration date. Note that when this value expires, the email injection with SMARTFENSE will stop working until a new one is entered.
To enter a new one.
10. Copy the “Value” of Client secret. This value will no longer be displayed in the Microsoft Entra ID portal.
11. Paste the value copied on the platform SMARTFENSE.
12. Again on Microsoft Entra ID, enter the menu “API permissions”.
13. Go to “Add a permission”
14. Click “Microsoft Graph”.
15. Select “Application permissions”.
16. Select the following permissions:
- “Mail.Read”
- “Mail.ReadWrite”
SMARTFENSE does not use the granted permissions for any purpose other than those explicitly specified here in the guide..
17. Click “Grant admin consent for [name]”:
18. On the platform SMARTFENSE, Click on the button “Save”.
