In Interactive Module, Video, and Exam campaigns, some users may show identical — or seconds-apart — started and completed timestamps. This is not an error: it is expected platform behavior indicating that the user had already completed the content previously.
Reason for the behavior
This occurs when the user:
- Had already completed the content proactively from their end-user view, or
- Had completed it in a previous campaign.
In these cases, the platform detects that the content was already finished and automatically records the completion in the new campaign, without requiring a new interaction from the user.
Relationship with the assignment configuration
This behavior depends on the configuration defined in:
- Settings > Awareness > Interactive Modules > Interactive module assignment
- Settings > Awareness > Video > Video assignment
- Settings > Awareness > Exam > Exam assignment
For example, if the option Assign to all recipients but notify only those who have not previously completed the module is selected, the platform applies the following logic to users who already completed the content:
- The module is assigned to them.
- They do not receive a notification.
- They are automatically recorded as Sent, Started, and Completed in the current campaign, with the date corresponding to the campaign's send start time.
This same logic applies to Videos and Exams with their respective assignment configurations.
How to identify this case in the platform
Summary tab
In the Summary tab of the campaign detail, the banner shows how many recipients were assigned. Clicking View unassigned users opens the About campaign assignments modal, which lists these users with the reason Assigned, but not notified (had already completed it).
Users assigned to the campaign tab
In the Users assigned to the campaign tab, these users can be identified by the following indicators:
- The Sent, Started, and Completed timestamps are identical or differ by only a few seconds.
- Hovering over the information icon next to the Completed date displays the following message: "The user had already completed this content previously, so the platform automatically recorded the completion and did not send a new notification."
- No IP or User Agent data is recorded, confirming that no new real interaction took place.
Considerations
- This is not a statistics error. It is expected platform behavior.
- Applies to Interactive Modules, Videos, and Exams.
- Prevents users from repeating content they have already completed.
💡 Best Practices
- Review the assignment configuration before launching a campaign to anticipate how it will affect users who have already completed the content.
- Keep this behavior in mind when analyzing completion metrics: a high percentage of immediate completions may indicate that many users had prior completions of the content.
- If a new real interaction is required, use new content that the user has not previously completed.
- If you want all users to interact with the content again, select the option Assign to all recipients in the assignment configuration.
- If you do not want users who have already completed the content to appear in the campaign statistics, select Assign only to recipients who have not previously completed the module.
