This behavior may be due to an IP access restriction configured on the platform, which prevents access from certain addresses.
Reason for the behavior
SMARTFENSE allows restricting access to the platform through IP address ranges.
If a user or tool tries to access from a restricted IP:
- A 404 error will be shown
- This applies both to the root domain and any subdirectory of the instance
Where is it configured?
This configuration is located at:
Settings > Security > Access Control > Restricted IPs
How does the restriction work?
From this section it is possible to:
- Define one or more ranges of restricted IP addresses
- Block access to the platform from those IPs
This functionality can be used to:
- Prevent certain automated tools from interacting with the platform
- Restrict unwanted access
How to remove the restriction?
To allow access again:
- Go to Settings > Security > Access Control > Restricted IPs
- Delete the configured IP ranges
- Save the changes
Access validation
The section includes a "Check Access" button, which allows you to:
- Validate if the current IP will be blocked
- Avoid accidentally restricting the IP from which you are accessing
Considerations
- This behavior is not a platform error
- It is a security measure configured by an instance administrator
- It can affect both users and external tools
- It is important not to configure an IP that prevents access to the platform
💡 Best practices
- Verify IPs before applying restrictions
- Use the "Check Access" option before saving changes
- Avoid blocking the IP from which the platform is administered
- Use this functionality in a controlled manner for automated tools
