Administrator users can continue accessing the administrative section using their SMARTFENSE credentials, even if an alternative authentication method such as Microsoft Entra ID or Google has been configured.
Access to the administrative section
All users with an administrative role and an active account can enter the platform's administrative section using their SMARTFENSE credentials.
To do so:
- Access the instance URL by adding /admin
- Example: instanceName.takesecurity.com/admin
- Or use the “Administrative Login” link available on the login screen
Compatibility with Microsoft Entra ID or Google
When configuring authentication through Microsoft Entra ID (Azure Active Directory) or Google:
- Administrator users who have a corporate email within the configured domain retain both authentication methods
- They can access both via SSO and also using their own SMARTFENSE credentials
This ensures administrative access in all cases.
Case of administrators without a corporate email
Administrators who:
- Do not have a corporate email within the configured domain
- Or are not part of the directory in Microsoft Entra ID or Google.
Can continue accessing without issues by:
- Using their SMARTFENSE credentials
Considerations
- The alternative authentication does not replace traditional administrative access for administrator users
- This behavior is expected within the platform
- End users can only access through the method configured in the Authentication section
💡 Best practices
- Keep administrative credentials active as a backup
- Validate administrative access after configuring SSO
- Ensure that at least one administrator can access without relying on SSO
